Li Qiang Meets with Finnish President Alexander Stubb

On the afternoon of October 29, 2024, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Qiang said that since China and Finland established the future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership, bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of development and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields has been continuously promoted, benefiting the people of both countries. President Xi Jinping will hold talks with President Alexander Stubb to make new strategic plans for further deepening China-Finland relations. China is ready to work with Finland to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, maintain close high-level exchanges, continue to carry forward the traditional friendship, consolidate and enhance political mutual trust, and take bilateral relations and cooperation to new heights.

Li Qiang pointed out that economic globalization is facing headwinds at present but openness and cooperation remain the general trend. China is ready to work with Finland to stick to opening up and cooperation, expand trade, strengthen cooperation in key areas such as circular economy, information and communications, smart energy and agricultural and food products, give full play to the advantage of economic complementarity, and promote mutual benefit and win-win results at a higher level. China will continue to foster a world-class, market-oriented business environment governed by a sound legal framework and up to international standards, and welcomes Finnish companies to continue deepening their presence in the Chinese market. Li Qiang also expressed the hope that Finland will provide a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises and play a positive role in promoting the sound development of China-EU economic and trade relations. China is ready to work with Finland to further facilitate personnel exchanges and expand exchanges and cooperation in such fields as culture, education and sports to consolidate popular support for the friendly cooperation between the two countries. The two sides should support each other in multilateral processes such as addressing climate change and protecting biodiversity, work together to advance the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Alexander Stubb said that Finland and China enjoy traditional friendship. Currently, bilateral relations enjoy a sound momentum of development with fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Finland attaches importance to developing relations with China and is a reliable cooperative partner of China. Finland looks forward to strengthening exchanges with China at all levels, deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, green energy, sustainable development and other fields, and enhancing education and people-to-people exchanges to open a new chapter in bilateral relations. Finland appreciates China's important role in international affairs and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China in areas such as global security and climate change response. Finland is willing to promote the steady development of EU-China economic and trade relations.
