Top leaders continue panel discussions with lawmakers

BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese leaders on Monday continued their panel discussions with lawmakers during the ongoing annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature.

In a panel discussion with deputies from southern province of Hainan, Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang said the province must be fully aware of the extreme importance of ecological environment, and work hard to prevent pollution from damaging the environment of Hainan.

Zhang said protecting the ecological environment must be guaranteed by laws and regulation, while the environmental protection law enforcement activities should be strengthened for more effective supervision.

He hoped Hainan, China's southernmost province known for its seaside resort and tropical landscape, to well protect the ecological environment to build it into a beautiful island.

While deliberating the government work report with legislators from southwest China's Yunnan Province, Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, stressed the significance of the full implementation of the Constitution.

Liu reiterated that leading officials and Party cadres should take the lead in abiding by the law and be more capable to deepen reform and safeguard social stability through legal means.

Joining the panel discussion with deputies from Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Vice Premier Wang Qishan called for sound services regarding farmers' production and life, education and medical care, vowing to boost the personnel, funding, technological and management support for areas of ethnic minority groups.
