CPC congress elects central discipline commission

BEIJING, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Delegates to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) elected a 130-member Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) at the closing session here on Wednesday.

There were 127 members in the CCDI for the 17th CPC Central Committee.

A new central committee of the Party was also elected at the closing session of the congress, including 205 members and 171 alternate members.

The congress also reviewed and approved the work report of the 17th CCDI, and gave full consent to its work.

The congress held that new and significant progress has been made in improving Party conduct, upholding integrity and combating corruption since the 17th Party congress, thus ensuring progress in advancing the cause of the Party and country, according to a resolution adopted by the congress.

The congress called on the central and local commissions for discipline inspection to gear their work toward the central task of economic development, act in the overall interests of the country, and abide by the principle of combating corruption in an integrated way, addressing both its symptoms and root causes, and combining punishment and prevention, with emphasis on the latter.
