On July 23, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Iraq Mr.Xiang Bo met with, Deputy Minister of Iraqi Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom. Ambassador Xiang noted that China and Iraq enjoy a longstanding traditional friendship. He said that China stands ready to work together with Iraq to continuously advance the China-Iraq strategic partnership to a new level. Deputy Minister stressed that Iraq attaches great importance to developing relations with China and stands ready to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and deepen the friendship between the two peoples.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues of common interest.
