On July 28 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Iraq Xiang Bo met with former President of the Republic of Iraq Abdul Latif Rashid.

Ambassador Xiang spoke highly of President Rashid's contributions during his tenure to advancing China-Iraq relations, and briefed him on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on the occasion of the CPC's founding anniversary (July 1) as well as Xi Jinping's Thought on Party Building. He noted that the China-Iraq strategic partnership has been growing stronger and more stable, and that China stands ready to strengthen exchanges with Iraq on governance experience and further deepen bilateral cooperation across the board.

Rashid recalled with pleasure his visit to China, and expressed admiration for the Communist Party of China's leadership in achieving China's rapid economic and social development. He stated that he would continue to support the development of Iraq-China relations as always.
