On August 4, 2026, Ambassador of China to Iraq Xiang Bo met with representatives of Chinese oil companies operating in Iraq. More than 10 representatives of Chinese enterprises attended the meeting.

Ambassador Xiang listened to briefings on the companies' business operations. He commended Chinese oil companies for their positive contribution to high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Iraq and to Iraq's development and reconstruction. He called on the companies to further strengthen the concept of safe development, enhance security and risk prevention measures, conduct business in compliance with laws and regulations, actively fulfill their social responsibilities, and promote the high-quality development of China-Iraq energy cooperation.
