On August 26, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Iraq Xiang Bo met with Mr. Faleh Sari, Minister of Finance of Iraq.

Ambassador Xiang said that China-Iraq cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative has yielded fruitful results. China has been extensively involved in Iraq's development in such areas as oil, electricity and infrastructure, making positive contributions to Iraq's economic reconstruction and the improvement of people's livelihoods. He noted that practical cooperation between the two countries is substantial in scale and rich in substance, and that China stands ready to further expand practical cooperation with Iraq and promote the sustained development of the China-Iraq strategic partnership.

The Minister said that the Iraqi government attaches great importance to developing relations with China and expressed the hope that Iraq and China would expand cooperation in areas that Iraq prioritizes for development.
